Goodbye Grandma Eleanor

Thursday March 4th 2009 Grandma Eleanor passed away from colon cancer. She was 84 years old and remained in her home cared for by her family and a few other caregivers till the very end.
Monday March 16th the family is having a memorial service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery and there will be a luncheon after.
This is a sad occupational hazard for my job.. But these elderly people are so sweet and it is such an honour to meet them and to be able to care for them in there final years. I wouldn't give it up for anything!!!!!!
So I am back down to my 2..Grandpa Bob and Grandma Dottie...
I did need a little break between tho ..seems I had a slight heart attack last week. But today I am back to my old self!!! Nothing slows me down!!!!!
So life will go on..hopefully more grannies will come into my life and then sadly they will slip away too!!
So so long grandma Eleanor it was a great pleasure to meet you..see you someday on the other side.

Good News..We called off the APB!

Hey they found Dotties Choppers!!!! Yes they were still in the building. They were found in someone elses room in someone elses drawer! How they got there we'll never know! All I know is that when I got to Dots today and got the cards out...well there they were starring up at me from the drawer!!! Maybe someone else needed them for a while! Yuck!!! Dot did say she scrubbed them up really good tho. I sure hope so...Hum Maybe she left them one nite while visiting someone elses room!!!! Dot you sly dog you!!!!!!!!

Put out an APB....

Today Dottie was in her robe when I got there..seems she didn't want to get dressed. Also I guess she loves to change her clothes several times a day! But the bad news....Dottie's Choppers are missing! She had them... she thinks.....but she can't find them. Looked under the pillow...in the nightstand drawer...and her pockets..of everything she owns!..No sight of them. The nurses tore apart her room..No where! We even had her check her Bra...yep she likes to stuff things in her bra...
She checked..said No no teeth in there..then she even pulled all the "Stuff" out of her bra to prove it!!! (see pic) not the brown furry thing but everything else!! Well they called down to the laundry and they will search the trash. Hope the girls found them!! Good thing she likes to take them out to eat..hate to think she would starve without them...But she won't leave the room without them tho.

Hello Eleanor welcome to my Blog!!

Got me another new Granny. Dear Sweet Eleanor! She is an 80 something woman with endstage colon cancer.
My neighbor Diane is her main Caregiver but they need a weekend girl and someone to fill in! So that's me.. I will spend Saturday and Sunday afternoons with Eleanor and her poodle Shelby! I also will do a few over nites and a few week day afternoons to fill in for the others. I'd really like the night shift tho..10p till 8a. So hopefully that girl will burn out soon so I can take over. Granny also has a very nice doggie...A poodle named Shelby..Shelby is no trouble..just lays around and everysooften comes over by Eleanor's bed so she can pet her..and lets me know when she needs to be let out!.
I am sure this will be a temporary job tho..it's day by day. Eleanor lives just a few miles from me which is very nice. And the best part...the daughter scrapbooks!!!! and has a great little scrapbook room set up right in Granny's house!!!!!!Marsha the daughter can't wait to see my scrapbooks! next thing you know we'll be great scrapbook pals and she will have to find diff rent help cause we'll be too busy scrappin!!!! hahaha,..anyway...back to granny! well she is pretty easy..She sleeps in a hospital bed right in the main room and we sit and chat..some times she is with it and other times she just spins her own stories...We just all play along! Eleanor loves to nap..and that is great for me..cause I loves to nap too!!! Nap and Scrap my two favorite hobbies!!!!!HaHa..

Valentine's at the HOME

Took Dottie some valentines goodies and a handmade card on Wednesday..... Candies in a special heart box..cookies and specialty coffee from Timmy Ho's. When I got there Dottie was up at the nurses area where alot of them all hang out..helping them... got one from her room and then had to wheel her back... took one to the bathroom... and then didn't want to leave one old lady she was sitting visiting with when I got there! But finally she did..she told them all to stay there and she would be back in a while to help them get back to their rooms!
Back in her room her room mate had a cute valentines tree on her night stand and she proceeded to tell us a 20 minute story of how her daughter now decorates the tree for every holiday! She's never heard of such a thing..but she told me she likes the idea! laughing!..Her new roommate is a hoot never shuts the hell up!! I thought we were bad..She has us beat hands down now! Christ its like shes in charge Dottie says! Wednesday she sat on her bed in a top and just panties..shouting out orders to Dottie and I..Dottie runs right over and tends to her every wish..like its her job! I think Dottie thinks she works there now. We finally got to play some cards and enjoy our goodies. Was a good day for Dot she was kicking my Ass in cards left and right! She must be practicing when I'm not there! Anyway Dottie can't wait for the snow to stop and the weather to get warm again because then she can go home!!! Sure Dot..start packin!!!!!
