Lets Make Pickles!!!

So old Ruthie had it in her mind she wanted to make pickles! I guess she was fine..or kind of with it thru dinner but shortly after she got on this pickle kick. That's when I came in. Her daughter and son-in-law left me to deal with old Ruthie and the pickle problem! Well she insisted...we told her Spring has just arrived and the garden wasn't even planted yet so there were no cucumbers to make pickles. Oh but she insisted and persisted!!! Then she wanted the cookbook with the pickle recipe. Shit! good luck I thought. Where the heck am I gonna find that? So I kept telling her I was looking and that kept her quiet for a while..but she started up again! I finally found it, in the junk drawer, an old notebook with hand written recipes! Wow what a cool cookbook! and yup there it was her pickle recipe. Now she wanted me to copy it on a piece of paper. I kept asking why..it is in the book she can just follow it right out of the cookbook. Nope she wanted it copied and got a little pissy and asked for a pen and paper. So I gave it to her..you go for it Grandma.. she again took about a half hour to scribble some stuff that made no sense I don't even think they were real letters.... Then she wanted an old recipe box from the cupboard and that I found. She went thru that and found her daughter's favorite ice cream recipe.."Butternut squash" Oh nice flavor! Right! A little confused are we. So now she wanted to make ice cream..had to keep telling her we had no squash!!!! But she kept insisting! Spent time telling me how the minister came to call and she told him she was just about to make ice cream..so he invited himself in and stayed for dinner and ice cream desert before she could get rid of him!!! Reminded me of my Reverend Horton stopping in unannounced story...but that's a whole other story we won't get into to now!!!!! Back to the ice cream making.. That battle went on for 2 hours! Finally I got her a dish of ice cream the store bought kind right out of the freezer. That made her happy.
After that she must of forgot about making anything and decided it was time for bed! Thank God!!! Good Nite Ruthie!
