OH Good My Cleaning Lady is here!

When Grandma Ruth has good days..she thinks I am her Girl Friday. I went Wednesday this week during the day. Joannes brother couldn't do it this week. First when I got there Ruth was cleaning out under the sink. What a conglomerations of SHIT!! some pans some Christmas stuff..some nice glass candle holders.. some cleaning supplies and about 7 bottles of glass cleaner no lie! So I helped her in this little space....and to top it off the sink leaks so everything was wet and soggy and smelly! So I had her rewash everything. So she began to fill the sink and then asked me to scrub the kitchen floor. I gave her the excuse that she was in my way and I would do it after she was done there. So she washed a few and then wanted breakfast. Mind you she had breakfast at 6:30am and then again at 10am with her daughter. I reminded her that it was 12:pm and we would have lunch. We had her favorite PP&J on toast. I love it too and it was homemade strawberry jam...after lunch she had me do the floor and when it was dry she went back to work on her dish washing. I sat to watch Soaps after a while she hollered...Would you mind shutting that TV off please! I guess she didn't like her "Cleaning lady" sitting on her ass watching TV! Damn! so I did..and then i just wandered around a while. She finally came over and sat in her chair.. she looked at her LONG window sill full of a menagerie of things..and asked me to dust and clean the objects.. Damn I don't even do that at my house. So I did... finished that and she fell a sleep in her chair so I did too! an hour and a half later I heard her getting up she was heading towards the kitchen so I opened my eyes and asked her where she was going . She said as long as everyone was still sleeping she would go clean some more cupboards.
Good I thought it will keep her occupied! I went to the bathroom and then fixed the back doors that kept blowing closed in the wind. When I returned to the kitchen Ruth thought I had just gotten there for the day!!! Wow she is out there! So we cleaned the last cupboard and then we took out tea and my book to the deck to relax awhile. after an hour or so Ruth decided to go in and take a shower and get dressed and make us some breakfast. Grandma I said.."We had breakfast and lunch it is time for dinner!"

We headed into the house and she decided to go wash up and change her clothes anyway. I made us dinner and at 6:30 left grandma sitting in her chair with her tea and her purse . She was rifeling thru her purse looking for her three hundred dollars she thought she had and could not find! her mother always told her never to trust anyone while she was away from home on vacation! She asked me if the people around here steal. I assured her they did not and that she was home.. She probably will tell the next "Shift" that the "heavy set girl" stole from her! cause that is what she does! I told her she probably spent it and she should go get more tomorrow. She got all sad she wanted that money to take her son from California out to dinner tonite! I told her it was OK he was not coming tonite only Joanne would be here and she already ate. so she fell for that and I kissed her good by..and told her Joanne was on her way home...then i thanked her for the $300.00 pay and left. HAHA NOT!!!!!

Wake me when it is time to go home....

Nice! I show up at 5 to watch granny and she is napping...so I did too till 6:30. But she woke again all confused. Telling me her kids hate her and just want her money and no one cares about her and they never come to See her.
I have to tell her over and over again...That Joanne was there all day and that her son was there all day yesterday and that I'm there now. Tonite she asked me if I knew how to run the washer. I told her only Joanne is allowed to use it. She takes her moms stuff home top do her wash. then she asked if the vacuum was working,, not that again! I told her yes it works but Cheri comes 2 days a week to clean and she just did it yesterday. So i was off the hook tonite for cleaning. But then she asked me if i cook and who does do the cooking here. I told her we all do. So she wanted some dinner. which she had earlier with Joanne. And that I already ate. So she settled for cookies. A 9pm she was hungry again and asked again about dinner so I told her she ate and she said she is hungry again and would like a sandwich.. And to find something out in the kitchen for her to eat. We had ham sandwiches and ice cream. finally I told her it was time to get ready for bed but she could stay up till her daughter got home. it is like dealing with a toddler. She got into her Jammie's and just went to bed.!! Nice NITE NITE GRANNY!!!

Should we call the Police?

WoW....Trouble in them there hills! Grandma woke at 2am she could hear someone stealing my car. She got up and dressed. thinking it was time to get up and get dressed! Every time the refrigerator kickes on it kind of sounds like a car engine..so it woke her and she thought my car was being driven away. I looked and assured her it was still there. So she was up now for the duration. Fortunately I was already up doing a puzzle so she sat with me helping me. Now grandma cannot see very well but she sure could get the right pieces in the right places. she was very good at it too!
I think she is bullshitting us about her eyes!! Anyway the fridge kicked on again and she kept insisting my car was stolen! I told her again it was still there and she said we should call the police. I told her we will wait till her daughter Joanne shows up in the morning and that we would ask her what to do.... Continue to work on puzzle....again she insisted we call the police and again I told her we would wait. But she asked.."What about the dead body?"...What dead body I asked? "The girl" she said. She was suffocated?" I said she was?..oooo we better wait for Joanne to call the police. I started to wonder....did that really happen in her past or was she fabricating it? Suddenly I wondered was my life in danger? did she suffocate her last "GIRL", and was she hidden the house somewhere? Or buried out in the garden and that is why her gardens are so lovely and colorful and in full bloom? And the birds so many birds...do they come to eat the worms and bugs eating the decaying bodies?
And this bird keeps watch!! Or did grandma steal a car years ago and commit a murder? Is Fasa the big dog in on it too...is he grandmas accomplice.
After all he looks like a bear...she could tell the police they were killed by the bear! Finally grandmas asked. "Why are we up it is so late? You tell me grandma? I said and she wanted to go back to bed. good I thought so she did. The rest of the night I slept with a light on and one eye open!!!!! Not really but wasn't that a scary grandma story????

It's Sprinkling!!!!

It was a hot sticky one today at work. When Haley got off the bus she was hot and whinny. The man next door was power washing his side of the fence.
A nice cool mist was coming thru on our side so Haley and I played in it!
Nice cold refreshing spray!
It was Ghetto Sprinkler!! sort of like playing in an opened fire hydrant only nicer! Cool mist sprayed on us it fun! When the boys got off the bus they joined us. we all got soaked and then the boys had to go clean up for baseball pics and Haley, Raven and I went in to relax for a while after being out in the hot sun....I work way to hard!!!

Pumpkin Picture..Pumpkin Cookies...Pumpkin Head....

What are 3 things I dealt with today!!!! Today was pumpkin day for me!!! Went to play cards with Dot today...found her in the activity room. It was a banana Split social but before they could have ice cream they had to go to "Art Class" They were using pastel water colors..like chalk sticks and each person was drawing a different still life...fruit.
Except Dot. She was doing a pumpkin!!!! It was funny I asked why she was doing a pumpkin at this time of year when everyone else had fruit? She didn't know. But she couldn't wait to leave to play cards and eat my treat..she didn"t want the banana split..said I probably brought something much better! I did make her stay and finish her picture tho!!! The funny part is that each time I come I bring really good desserttie things. Our latest favorites are these huge devils food cake like cookies with cream cheese frosting. So I had a taste for them today. So I got our iced teas and then went to Pumpernic and pastries to get 2 delicious cookies. When I was checking out the delights I spotted a new version of that type of cookie so I thought I'd try those today..Yup you guested it!!! Pumpkin with Pumpkin cream cheese frosting! Scary...DO DO DO DO Do Do Do Do!@!!!!!!!
I guess it was pumpkin day!!! so we played cards and ate up our goodies...I was the champ today......then it was off to my next Granny job!!!!
You ask where does Pumpkin Head come in? Oh ya that's Granny Ruth on new medicine tonite!!!!! She started out fine. She was sitting at her dinner table when I showed up so I made me some tea and we sat and chatted for about an hour. She talked of old times and her kids and stuff and even knew what she was talking about and she even knew who i was. Not for long tho! We moved into the parlor to watch the news and read the paper and Granny fell asleep. I guess while she was sleeping her head must have spun around and became a "Pumpkin Head".. When she woke..the fun began! She kept asking when she was going home..and did I know her phone number so she could call home to see if anyone was there. and She forgot to lock the doors and John (her dead husband) was gonna be really mad and yell at her and give her the big long lecture!! ( Been there Got that)! I told her she now lives here and to look around and see all her belongings. She told me she had no belongings her kids stole them all!!! and where was her pocket book? I told her I would go get it and she told me she didn't know where it was. I asked if it was in her room so she asked me "Where is my room"?..That is where she usually keeps it. But tonite she told me she thinks she hid it but forgot where! . One night we hid it under her pillow and one day she hid it in the oven. Fun! it was gonna be like finding my Easter basket as a kid! The first place I looked was her room..there it was on her bed. Well that kept her busy..rummaging thru the bag looking for her car and house keys. Mind you she hasn't driven in about 30 years!! So I was hoping she didn't find them! cause all she had in the drive way was a broken down bulldozer!!!
Boy I wonder if it is what she used to drive! LOOK OUT!!!!! Anyway I sat on the floor near her chair trying to change the subject to get her to talk about crap she remembered to get her mind off of wanting to go home. I kind of worked..but she did have to put on her sneakers and coat and hold her pocket book so when Joanne got home She could go back to her own home!!! Joanne worked tonite and usually calls once while she's there. Grandma is fascinated by the phone..
It startles her every time it rings and every time a phone rings on TV..she answers hers and then says hello a bunch of times then looks at me and says no one is there! I say must be a wrong number then!!!!! Tonite grandma answered the phone and was confused...she told Joanne no one came today but now the heavy set girl was there!!
Was she talking about me? I looked around and no one else was there so I guess so!!! Thanks Grandma!!! Crazy lady... Another fun day at work!!!

Annie, Annie, Noreen...where are you???

Oh boy last night was fun!!! Ruth started out calm enough. We had our usual ice cream bed time snack..Chocolate malted milk flavor from the Swanz man..Wow was that good!!! Then I slipped her her 2 sleeping pills and off she went to bed. For 2 hours! Then we woke up..She wanted to know why I was still up and she went in to pee. Back to bed.....12:30 up again again asking me why I was still up and I should go to bed now!! So I moved all my stuff to the kitchen table and made my bed..turned off the TV to fake her out and sat at the kitchen table to finish Joy's shower invites. back to bed she goes. Then it really starts..she starts yelling for Annie and Noreen..don't know who the hell they are. So I go tell her they are not her only me, Sharon Your Girl is here.. that calmed her down Little. then she pointed to the corner of her room and told me to put that old lady to bed...it was her clothes tree. Of course it was piled with old lady clothes so no wonder she thought it was an old lady! So I put on the lights to show her it was just her clothes. OK back to bed...I go back out and start working again...15 minutes later she's up...I go to her and she asks me again why I am still up...I tell her i was sleeping and that she keeps waking me up! So she decides she is going to sleep in the living room with me so I stay in bed!!
Oh great! Now she plunks down in her chair and I have to lay down.... She kept an eye on me like an old hawk. finally she fell asleep and I had a hard time drifting off and I knew I better not get back up or she'll ground or spank me! Finally it was morning and we awoke. She didn't want to get out of the chair for an hour because she said she was in a fog and asked what happen last nite? She asked if her sisters were here and if John came home. They are all dead!! I told her no just me. She asked if I had to go get ready for school and did my people know where I was..and did I walk. One other time she asked me what grade I was in..Ricky told me I should have told her "42nd"...Too funny.. Finally we had tea and she went to dress and make her bed. She was much better by then and her daughter came to releive me... Three sleeping pills next time!!!

I called MY girl!!!!

Went to sit with Ruth last nite for a few hours. I went to replace Cheri who was there all day. She is the one who really does the cleaning and cooking. I get the easy part just sitting, until Grandma remembers She hired me to help her and then she assigns me some chores. She was fine she loves this time of year..the fall..when all the leaves change! She kept asking me if would rain or snow tonite. mind you it is 79 degrees at the moment. I told her I hoped just for rain..I hate driving in the snow and I had to drive over to her house. Then we had home made apple pie ala-mode. Yum yum..warmed too!! When Joanne showed up grandma let her have it! Said she was mad as hell! No one showed up today. She got up and was alone all day and she hasn't had anything to eat all day.
She said she finally had to call "Her Girl" (me) to come over to help her and now shes ok!! ya right..Cheri was there all day cleaning and cooked her a big fancy lunch.. Nice... Like I told Joanne...."Mom likes me best!"..haha So today Joanne called seems she needs someone to take her brothers shift so she wanted to offer it to me first since..."MOM likes Me Best".. So I am going tonite. Chat with grandma while watching TV for about 2 hours .. have treats..put her to bed do my thing wake up in the morning and leave $100.00 richer..What could be better!!!!

Hard Day at Work...sweat sweat sweat.....

Well this was a tough one. it is such a beautiful day out I hated to go to work! but oh ya work there is like being at home with NO work to do! Had to babysit Haley at 11:30.
We walked to her school playground (getting in my walking)
Then I played on the playground with her and took pics.

Then I sat and read my book (getting in my reading time)
while she played by herself. She is too cute.
We left and walked home to have more fun.
We played in the hose and then worked on my tan...Oh did I say i was working? The boys were due home at 3:30. right on time the bus showed up..minus one kid!! OH GREAT! So I called Laurie to and left a message That i lost a kid! She called me back and said she just got off the phone with the school. Seems the teacher was speaking to a few of the students and didn't realize how late it was and oops...they missed the bus. So we piled in the car and drove 1 block to school to get Josh. Then the kids wanted to stay and play at the playground for a while too. after we left and as long as we were out we drove to the DQ Yummy! Returned home just in time to send them off with their dad. Nice! oh work is sooo hard and depressing!! HAHAHA

Hopping on the "Granny Express Train!"

New Granny!! Her name is Ruth Blowers. Very sweet 87 year old lady. She is the mom of Joanne Stang, an old family friend. They live just a mile away. the Stang's build a lovely cottage type home for Mom on their property. it is very beautiful property. It is located in a very picturesque wooded area. Ruth have beautiful gardens and a ton of bird feeders! and it over looks a creek down in a little valley and a wooded area with a meadow behind it! Absolutely gorgeous!! her home has two large picture windows looking out. We spend our time watching out them and drinking tea and chatting.. One of my first visits she told me the people that own the place are very nice! mind you its her daughter and her husband and grandma has been there 3 years now..Since her husband John's death. she also was complaining about her family telling her what to do! she wants to make her own decisions. Feels her family can't agree on anything for her and so they just fight. So to get even she "hired" me herself!! wants me to be her "girl" and was that OK with my parents and when could I start and how much can she pay me! Sp I agreed. Fun! the next time I showed up i guess she had a bunch of chores for me to do! I had to sweep and scrub the kitchen floor and she insisted i change the upstairs beds because her family was coming for John's funeral..yup dead 3 years! and no upstairs! so I convinced he to wait to see who showed up first and then we'll do the beds as we need them. She is easily appeased. thank goodness. then we sat and had tea ! bet she was wondering why the help was sitting on her ass having tea instead of cleaning!! oh well with her lack of memory she won't remember what I did or didn't do or even if I had ever been there before or if I was ever returning! Gotta love that kind of job!
Well next weekend I will be doing a pajama party sleep over with grandma! Should be fun!

Almost..

Annetta Welsted.
I almost had me a nice old couple to help care for. But........ My friend Eloise, Joe's mom (We all know who Joe is!) was talking to me one day and telling me how exausted she was. Seems her mom was struggling with lung cancer and her dad who is in pretty good health had to have surgery on his artery in his leg. So she was very busy with them..and her own family and work and grandkids. Eloise had some family help but was still running herself ragged. It was a very hard time for her. I offered to come help her and she was so grateful..she wanted to clear it thru her family most of whom I know anyway and she wanted to pay me! Nice! but it wasen't for the money. But before she could get things organized for me her mom took a turn for the worse and she passed away. It was very sad. She had a very beautiful funeral and of course Joe sang. It was tough for him..but he got thru it but not with out a few tears. Now it is just her dad and the family is managing now and dad is on the road to moving on. Eloise and her dad Gerry Welsted

Granny nanny break..

Took a week off..Did you miss me?
My sister Linda came to town and we hit a scrapbook convention We had a great time. It was a 2 day event so we stayed right downtown at the Hyatt.
Two days of classes, crops and shopping.

Great time. Met some very nice people..all scrapbook people are nice!!!
Took ourselves out to eat . Went to the Pearl Street Grill so Linda could get her "Fish Fry" and we ate at the Hyatt one nite. Lunch was served at the convention both days. very good food all week. and roamed Buffalo alittle. Of course we squeezed in a Gig
Hp played at maccaroons..they were GREAT..as usual!! Then for the rest of the week we visited family..

Breakfast at 3 Sisters in Boston. and I actually cooked!
Linda did some card readings. Can't believe how "Right On" she is with every ones cards!!! WOW! and it is so much fun to hear what she has to say for everyone! Can't wait for her to return in September, she is bringing the cards again to do more readings!! Well that is it for now. Must go on to my next job...My 3 little charges.
Fortunately I have just Haley till 3:30 then all of them till 6 and then out to see the band tonite!!!
